Archetype Kryptonite: Your Failure Mode

Every personality type has a superpower. Every superpower has a failure mode. Here's yours, and what to do about it.

The Creative Archetype

Superpower: You generate ideas, adapt fast, see new possibilities. In change, that's gold. You'll experiment with AI before others are reading about it.

Kryptonite: Follow-through
You'll try AI, have brilliant ideas, start three projects, and finish none. You'll get distracted by the next shiny thing. The problem isn't capability. It's execution. You know what's possible; you just don't stabilize it into practice.

What to do: Impose structure on yourself. Pick one AI application for your work. Not all of them. One. Build a repeatable workflow around it. Then move to the next one. Also: find an accountability partner who's detail-oriented. You need someone to keep you on the path while you navigate.

Creative + Mastery Combination

Superpower: You have standards. Your work is good. You want to improve.

Kryptonite: Perfectionism Kills Action
You'll wait for the perfect prompt. The perfect understanding. The perfect moment to start. You'll research forever. Perfectionism is disguised procrastination. You'll fall behind because you're not moving until conditions are perfect.

What to do: Set a deadline for your first AI project. Not unlimited research time. Two weeks max. Then ship something imperfect. You'll learn more from one imperfect attempt than from three weeks of research.

Guarded + Action Combination

Superpower: You make quick decisions and move fast. You don't overthink.

Kryptonite: You Move Without Thinking Through Consequences
You'll implement AI tools without understanding limitations. You'll put sensitive data in the wrong place. You'll move fast and break things, but sometimes what you break matters. Your speed becomes a liability when you're not careful about what you're doing.

What to do: Before you implement, do a five-minute audit. What could go wrong? What data are we touching? Is there a compliance issue? You don't need paralysis. You just need five minutes of deliberation before you ship.

Guarded + Mastery Combination

Superpower: You're thorough. You understand systems. You want to do things right.

Kryptonite: Analysis Paralysis
You'll research forever. Learn obsessively. Never feel ready to move because there's always one more thing to understand. You'll be the most knowledgeable person in the room who hasn't actually used AI yet.

What to do: Set a knowledge deadline. You've got three weeks to get up to speed on AI. Then you move into application, even if you don't feel 100% ready. Learning by doing will teach you more than reading ever will. You can research while practicing.

Relational Archetype

Superpower: You're good at building consensus. You involve others. Teams trust you.

Kryptonite: You Depend on Others to Validate
You'll wait for organizational approval. You'll check with teammates before trying something. You'll move only when consensus exists. But with AI, moving fast matters. Waiting for consensus means waiting until others have caught up, which is slow.

What to do: Try AI alone first. Build confidence and competence privately. Then bring it to your team. You don't need permission to learn. You're not changing organizational policy. You're upskilling yourself.

Thinking Archetype

Superpower: You see systems. You're skeptical. You think before acting.

Kryptonite: You're Skeptical Enough to Dismiss Before Testing
"AI is just hype. Let me read more research." You'll have thoughtful critiques of AI limitations. All true! But truth and utility are different. You can be right that AI has limitations and still be wrong about whether it helps you.

What to do: Separate analysis from action. Your skepticism is an asset—use it after you've tried, not instead of trying. Test it. Then analyze whether the results justify the effort.

The Pattern

Creative types fail through carelessness or lack of follow-through. Guarded types fail through either recklessness or paralysis. Relational types fail through consensus-seeking. Thinking types fail through overthinking.

None of these failures is destiny. They're tendencies. Knowing your tendency means you can build guardrails against it. The Creative with accountability partner beats the Creative alone. The Guarded+Mastery person who sets a deadline beats the one without.

"Your archetype predicts your failure mode. Knowing it is half the battle. The other half is building systems that prevent the fall."

Read your archetype section above. What's your failure mode? Design one guardrail against it.
